A small fleet of ships chartered by Chevron (CVX.N) is preparing to sail to Venezuela. The company has become the country’s sole oil exporter following the capture of Venezuelan President Maduro by U.S. forces. Data shows that at least 11 tankers chartered by the U.S. oil giant are scheduled to arrive this month at the Venezuelan government-controlled ports of Jose and Bahía Grande. These preliminary figures represent an increase from the nine vessels recorded in December and mark the highest number since October, when 12 tankers loaded cargo there. The Houston-based company’s operations in Venezuela are authorized by a license issued by the U.S. Treasury Department. Amid U.S. sanctions, the company is the only Western firm permitted to extract and export crude oil from Venezuela.
