UK and France Sign Statement of Intent: Will Deploy Troops to Ukraine If Russia and Ukraine Reach a Peace Agreement
Following the signing of a relevant declaration of intent by British Prime Minister Starmer, French President Macron, and Ukrainian President Zelenskyy, the British government issued a declaration of intent to deploy troops to Ukraine in the event that a peace agreement is reached. The “Multinational Force in Ukraine” will serve as a supporting force, strengthening security by assisting in the reconstruction of Ukraine’s own armed forces and enhancing Ukraine’s capacity to return to peace and stability. The signing of this declaration paves the way for establishing a legal framework for British and French forces to operate on Ukrainian territory, which will safeguard Ukraine’s airspace and maritime security and build a future-oriented armed force. Following the ceasefire, the UK and France will also establish “military hubs” across Ukraine to deploy weapons and military equipment, as well as construct secure facilities to support Ukraine’s defense needs.
