The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has issued the "Action Plan for the Integration and Empowerment of the Industrial Internet and Artificial Intelligence." The plan proposes accelerating the open and intelligent upgrading of industrial networks. To address new demands in industrial intelligence—such as collaborative production of smart equipment, training and inference of industrial models, and communication and interaction among industrial intelligent agents—it supports industrial enterprises in comprehensively utilizing technologies including 5G/5G-A, industrial optical networks, time-sensitive networks (TSN), single-pair Ethernet (SPE), edge computing, and cloud-based control to drive the integrated evolution and capability upgrade of industrial network control, networking, and computing. The plan also calls for exploring innovative application models for new industrial networks that are suited to industrial intelligence operations. Accelerate R&D efforts on products such as 5G programmable logic controllers (PLCs), AI routers, and industrial computing-networking switches; roll out a catalog of new industrial network products on a rolling basis; promote the adoption of new industrial networks in key industries; and develop intelligent network capabilities including self-organizing, self-managing, self-optimizing, and self-healing functions.
