China's deepest offshore wind farm begins generating electricity
China Huaneng announced today that the Huaneng Shandong Peninsula North Sea Offshore Wind Farm—China’s deepest offshore wind project—has been connected to the grid, marking a new breakthrough in the commercial operation of offshore wind power in deep-sea areas. Located in the waters off Muping, Yantai, the Huaneng Shandong Peninsula North Sea Offshore Wind Farm has a total installed capacity of 504 MW and features 42 12-megawatt wind turbines. The project innovatively employs a four-pile jacket foundation structure, reaching a maximum height of 83.9 meters—the tallest of its kind in China—effectively ensuring the safety and stability of the wind turbines in the complex geological conditions of the deep offshore environment.
