Svmuu News: German Foreign Minister Johann Wadfull said he is optimistic that Europe will be able to reach a “compromise” with the United States on the issue of Greenland. Speaking in Washington on Monday after meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Rubio, Waldorf said he hopes the United States will participate in a new NATO mission in the Arctic to help ensure Greenland’s security. Waldorf said, “NATO is currently beginning to develop concrete plans, which will be discussed with our American partners. We have not yet taken that step today, but all parties are prepared to carry out this work within the NATO framework. Germany will also strive to contribute to this effort.” Waldorf also discussed the ongoing negotiations between the U.S., Europe, and Ukraine with Rubio. Germany has made it clear that it is willing to support a military mission as part of security guarantees.
