Israel's Interceptor Missile Stockpile Reportedly "Severely Insufficient"
Svmuu News According to a report by the American financial media Semafor, U.S. officials revealed that Israel informed the United States this week that its ballistic missile interceptors are running low as the conflict with Iran continues to intensify. It is reported that Israel entered the current war with its interceptor stockpile already at a low level, as these munitions were heavily depleted during last summer's conflict with Iran. Under Iran's attacks, Israel's long-range defense systems have been under immense pressure. CNN previously reported that Iran is equipping its missiles with cluster munitions, which could exacerbate the depletion of Israel's stockpile. A U.S. official stated that the United States became aware of Israel's insufficient interceptor capabilities months ago: "This is something we anticipated and were prepared for." The official emphasized that the U.S. itself is not facing a similar shortage of interceptors. It is currently unclear whether the United States will seek to sell or share its own interceptors with Israel, a move that would put pressure on domestic U.S. supplies. Past U.S. military aid to Israel has included missile defense assets. (Jin10)
