Two regional sources said Iran has indicated to the Trump administration that it does not wish to restart negotiations with envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, preferring instead to engage with Vice President JD Vance.
In addition, approximately 1,000 soldiers from the U.S. Army's 82nd Airborne Division are expected to be deployed to the Middle East in the coming days. Republicans once again blocked a resolution that would have required Trump to seek congressional authorization for future military action against Iran.
