Svmuu News The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) will announce the first batch of stablecoin issuer licenses at 5 PM today, after which the relevant licensed institutions will attend a media briefing event.
It is reported that the HKMA completed the review of the first batch of applications in mid-March 2026, receiving a total of 36 applications. The first batch of licenses is expected to be limited to 2 or 3, with relatively strict regulatory standards. Previously, HKMA Chief Executive Eddie Yue stated that the licensing work would proceed with a prudent principle, keeping the number at a relatively low level. (National Business Daily)
