U.S. Central Command: Over the weekend, the U.S. military conducted self-defensive strikes on Iranian radar and drone command-and-control stations located in Goruk and on Qeshm Island.
These two carefully considered strikes, conducted on Saturday and Sunday respectively, aimed to respond to Iranian acts of aggression, including Iran’s downing of a U.S. MQ-1 drone that was operating over international waters. U.S. fighter jets responded swiftly, destroying an Iranian air defense facility, a ground control station, and two one-way attack drones that posed a clear threat to vessels transiting the regional waters. No U.S. personnel were injured in the operation. During the current ceasefire, U.S. Central Command will continue to protect American assets and interests against unprovoked Iranian aggression.
