Economist: US May ADP Private Sector Employment Expected to Be Similar to April Figures
Svmuu News Dave Sloan, a senior economist at the economic research firm Continuum Economics, expects the US May ADP private sector employment to increase by around 100,000, roughly in line with the 109,000 gain in April. The April figure was the strongest performance since January 2025. However, he pointed out that this estimate is still below the growth momentum implied by the ADP weekly employment report for the week ending May 9. Based on an average of 37,750 new jobs per week over the past four weeks, the corresponding monthly increase should be stronger. He added that it is worth noting that the trend of the ADP weekly employment data released in early April is relatively similar to the data from early May. Therefore, based on historical experience, the May ADP employment increase may still be expected to remain at a level close to that of April. (Jin10)
