JPMorgan Chase: Global stock buybacks hit record levels in April and May, with the tech sector stepping up its buying
Svmuu reported that analysts at JPMorgan Chase noted in a report that global stock buyback announcements reached a total of $533 billion in April and May this year, setting a new record for the period. The technology sector accounted for the bulk of this increase. Given market concerns about the scale of tech companies' capital expenditure on artificial intelligence, this phenomenon may seem puzzling at first glance. However, analysts stated that over the past few quarters, there have been more positive signals regarding the financing needs of the tech sector, with cash flow growth showing a stronger upward trend relative to capital expenditure growth. This has helped expand their financing surplus, thereby supporting the scale of buybacks. (Golden Ten)
