Svmuu News: Analyst Torbjorn Soltvedt pointed out that although there is a fragile truce between the US and Iran, low-intensity conflicts continue to pressure the ceasefire, escalating into more intense exchanges of fire in recent days. Negotiations are ongoing, but the core issue is that both sides want to negotiate from a position of strength.
The US believes it can increase pressure on Iran, and waiting will only strengthen its bargaining hand; Iran, on the other hand, believes that blockading the Strait of Hormuz can strangle the global economy, enough to outlast the US for a better deal—a strategy that has already shown results, with many countries feeling the economic impact. "US inflation is currently hitting a three-year high," Soltvedt warned, adding that if a formal agreement is not reached, the current "highly unstable environment could collapse at any moment."
