Serenity: AMD is actively securing supplies of CW lasers, which may signal that upstream supply bottlenecks are beginning to emerge
Svmuu News: Serenity reported that, according to a TrendForce report, AMD is securing CW laser supplies through several major purchase orders, which may indicate that related supply bottlenecks are beginning to emerge.Serenity noted that there is little remaining independent production capacity in the Western supply chain; aside from SIVE, AAOI, and possibly Macom, capacity is limited—especially since Lumentum and Coherent signed multi-year agreements with NVIDIA, further locking up related production capacity.Serenity also noted that Lumentum has already faced supply constraints for CW lasers and may be sourcing from Japanese companies such as Sumitomo and Furukawa, which may also be operating near full capacity; following the signing of long-term agreements between NVIDIA and AMD, hyperscale cloud service providers such as Amazon and Microsoft may also attempt to secure production capacity.
