European Central Bank (ECB) The central bank governor may have urged Greece to reject Binance's MiCA license application
Svmuu News: Greece has rejected the application for authorization filed by Binance under the EU’s regulatory framework for crypto-asset markets, possibly due to political pressure exerted by European Central Bank (ECB) Governor Lagarde. Binance The company submitted its application to the Hellenic Capital Market Commission in early 2026, established a holding company locally, and had passed key technical reviews; however, the application was swiftly reversed between June 7 and 15, 2026.At a meeting in May, Lagarde told Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis that Europe does not welcome Binance. The reason is that Binance, as the dominant platform providing liquidity for stablecoins, is viewed by some policymakers as potentially complicating the digital euro project being advanced by European Central Bank (ECB). With its path in Greece blocked, Binance has shifted its focus to France to seek a MiCA license. (crowdfundinsider)
