Two Government Departments: Online Transaction Platform Operators Must Not Unilaterally and Arbitrarily Alter Platform Rules in a Manner That Harms Members' Rights and Interests
The State Administration for Market Regulation and the Cyberspace Administration of China have issued the "Measures for the Supervision and Administration of Rules on Online Trading Platforms." The measures stipulate that when consumers purchase membership services provided by online trading platform operators, such operators shall not, during the agreed service period, unilaterally amend platform rules to charge additional fees or reduce membership benefits without authorization. Before consumers renew their membership services, operators of online trading platforms shall prominently notify consumers of any changes to platform rules that affect membership rights.
