Zhu Jianqiao, Director of the Department of Internet Supervision at the State Administration for Market Regulation, stated on the 7th that the State Administration for Market Regulation and the Cyberspace Administration of China recently jointly issued the "Measures for the Supervision and Administration of Live-Streaming E-commerce." Tailored to the characteristics of the live-streaming e-commerce industry, the measures strengthen regulatory tools by incorporating traffic control into the regulatory toolkit. They also bring AI-generated content, such as digital avatars, under regulatory oversight to prevent new technologies from becoming a “shield” for generating or spreading false information, thereby promoting the standardized application of AI technology in the live-streaming e-commerce sector. Additionally, the Measures extend their scope to private-domain livestreaming, requiring other online service providers to fulfill corresponding platform operator obligations in accordance with the law based on the specific nature of their services.
