According to information from today’s press conference, a representative from the Cyberspace Administration of China stated that following the introduction of the *Measures for the Supervision and Administration of Live-Streaming E-commerce* and the *Measures for the Supervision and Administration of Online Trading Platform Rules*, clearer and more specific guidelines have been established for the compliant operation of e-commerce platforms. The administration will use this as an opportunity to continue conducting concentrated crackdowns on issues in the live-streaming e-commerce sector, such as false advertising, vulgar “borderline” content, AI impersonation of public figures, the sale of counterfeit and substandard goods under the guise of “special offers,” the dissemination of information regarding the sale of prohibited goods, and the use of private-domain livestreams to lure the elderly into making purchases. At the same time, we will urge website platforms to further strengthen the management of live-streaming e-commerce content, establish robust content review mechanisms, enhance their ability to detect and address illegal and non-compliant content, and improve their self-management awareness and capabilities, thereby continuously purifying the live-streaming e-commerce ecosystem. For website platforms that fail to fulfill their primary responsibilities, as well as online accounts, livestreaming rooms, and MCN agencies with serious violations or those that flout regulations, the Cyberspace Administration of China will impose strict penalties in accordance with laws and regulations, publicly expose them, and strengthen deterrence through these measures.
