A woman was shot and killed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, reportedly after confronting immigration enforcement officers
According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer fired his weapon, resulting in the death of a woman during a law enforcement operation in Minnesota on Wednesday. The department stated that the woman attempted to ram law enforcement officers during an operation in Minneapolis. “An ICE officer fired in self-defense out of concern for his own safety, the safety of his colleagues, and the safety of the public,” the Department of Homeland Security wrote in a social media post. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz said his office is investigating the incident and urged the public to remain calm. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, meanwhile, demanded that immigration officials leave the city immediately.
