The General Office of the Guangzhou Municipal People’s Government has released the “Guangzhou Plan for Accelerating the Development of an Advanced Manufacturing Powerhouse (2024–2035).” The plan states that Guangzhou will accelerate the advancement of new industrialization, cultivate and expand 15 strategic industrial clusters, and vigorously develop six emerging pillar industries: intelligent and connected new energy vehicles; ultra-high-definition video and new display technologies; biomedicine and health; green petrochemicals and new materials; software and the internet; and intelligent equipment and robotics. It will accelerate the cultivation of five strategic pioneer industries: artificial intelligence, semiconductors and integrated circuits, new energy and new energy storage, low-altitude economy and aerospace, and bio-manufacturing. It will also expand and strengthen four distinctive and competitive industries: fashion and consumer goods, rail transit, shipbuilding and marine engineering, and smart construction and industrialized building. Proactively plan for six future industries, creating a series of demonstration scenarios for first-time trials and applications in fields such as embodied intelligence, intelligent unmanned systems, and cutting-edge new materials. Use these scenarios to drive the accelerated maturation and application of cutting-edge technologies and products, striving to achieve exponential growth in industrial scale within 5 to 10 years. Focusing on industries such as cell and gene therapy, future networks and quantum technology, and deep-sea and deep-space exploration, we will establish a series of high-level innovation platforms to accelerate the transformation and industrialization of innovation outcomes, thereby promoting the deep integration of scientific and technological innovation with industrial innovation.
