On February 25, Paul Chan, Secretary for Finance of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, delivered the 2026–2027 Budget to the Legislative Council. Paul Chan stated that, while prioritizing road safety, the Hong Kong SAR Government is accelerating the development of autonomous and driverless vehicles on a large scale to achieve commercial operation, and is encouraging the industry to use Hong Kong as a platform to expand into overseas markets. The “Aerospace Corridor” autonomous transport system is expected to launch within the year and will be the first such project to operate commercially in Hong Kong.
