The U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) has issued proposed rules implementing the "Genius Act" and is seeking public comment.
Svmuu News: Crypto reporter Eleanor Terrett posted on X that the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) today released proposed rules to implement the GENIUS Act and is seeking public comment. The framework will establish basic rules for OCC-regulated issuers authorized to issue foreign payment stablecoins, as well as for certain custody activities. Comptroller Jonathan Gould stated that the goal is to establish a system where stablecoins can “thrive in a safe and sound manner.” Excluded from this framework are BSA/AML and OFAC provisions, which will be addressed separately in coordination with the Treasury.
