Svmuu News: In their annual letter released on Tuesday, Patrick Collison, CEO and co-founder of fintech company Stripe, and co-founder John Collison stated that as AI agents gradually become the primary executors of online transactions, blockchain transaction activity will grow significantly, and blockchain may need to support over 1 million or even 1 billion transactions per second. The two noted that there are significant gaps in current blockchain infrastructure, requiring large-scale scaling to meet future demand. They mentioned that a previous surge in memecoin transactions on a major blockchain had caused payment delays of over 12 hours for Bridge users and a 35-fold increase in transaction fees. According to Chainspect data, the Internet Computer Protocol and Solana are currently the two fastest blockchains, processing approximately 1,196 and 1,140 transactions per second, respectively. They are the only two networks exceeding 1,000 transactions per second, with theoretical peak capacities of 209,708 and 65,000 transactions per second, respectively. The Stripe co-founder also outlined five capability levels for AI agents, including filling out web forms, descriptive search, remembering user information, executing tasks, and proactively anticipating needs. He noted that AI agents are currently at the tipping point between the first two levels, having moved beyond the stage of mere hype into a period of practical application exploration.
