Jack Dorsey Speaks Again on the Layoffs of Nearly 4,000 Employees Due to AI: Admits to Previous Overhiring, Sets Future Goal of $2 Million in Profit Per Employee
Svmuu News: In response to the community’s claim that “the primary reason for Block’s layoffs is overhiring and mismanagement during the COVID-19 pandemic,” former Twitter founder Jack Dorsey posted on X, stating, “ Yes, we overhired during the pandemic due to the mistaken establishment of two separate corporate structures (Square and Cash App), but this issue was corrected by mid-2024. However, this did not fully account for the complexity we faced in lending, banking, and BNPL. Our current goal is over $2 million in gross profit per employee, which is four times our pre-pandemic efficiency—a level that had remained at approximately $500,000 from 2019 to 2024. In fact, we operate a more efficient company than most.”
