Svmuu News: OpenAI co-founder Sam Altman announced on X that the company has reached an agreement with the U.S. Department of Defense to deploy OpenAI models within its classified network environment. Under the terms of the agreement, the models may not be used for domestic mass surveillance, and it emphasizes that any applications involving the use of force—including potential autonomous weapon systems—must adhere to the principle of “human in control.” OpenAI stated that it will establish technical security safeguards for this deployment, with the models operating exclusively on cloud-based networks, and will dispatch Field Deployment Engineers (FDEs) to participate in model security assurance efforts. OpenAI also noted that it has urged relevant authorities to offer the same terms to other AI companies in order to reduce legal and regulatory disputes through contractual agreements.
