Another Blow to the Middle East Energy Hub: Fire at UAE Storage and Distribution Center Fuels Fears of Supply Disruptions
Svmuu News: A fire broke out in Fujairah, the UAE’s main oil trading hub, after debris from an intercepted drone fell, marking the latest in a series of incidents affecting major energy facilities in the Middle East. Civil defense forces are working to bring the fire under control. Earlier on Tuesday, another fire was reported in the area, while operations at a major oil storage terminal and a refinery had been suspended the previous day. Fujairah is a critical refueling port and one of the Middle East’s largest oil storage and trading centers. Its location outside the Strait of Hormuz makes it strategically important to the UAE. Through a pipeline connecting the region’s storage tanks to the Abu Dhabi oil fields, Fujairah also serves as a key alternative export route for the UAE. Nevertheless, the pipeline’s capacity remains insufficient to fully replace all of the UAE’s oil flows through the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz. (Jin Shi)
