UniCredit: Central banks will overlook short-term volatility; expects one rate cut in Federal Reserve
Svmuu News: Marco Valli and Daniel Vernazza, chief economists at UniCredit’s Investment Research Institute, stated in a report that military operations against Iran are expected to last several weeks, which will allow central banks to temporarily overlook short-term volatility; subsequently, tensions and disruptions to energy supplies should ease. They said, “In our baseline scenario, the Federal Reserve is still expected to cut rates only once this year, while the European Central Bank (ECB) will keep rates unchanged until 2027.” The two chief economists added that the risks facing the European Central Bank (ECB) this year have shifted from additional monetary easing to the possibility of an earlier policy tightening.
