Besent: The U.S. takes a "tolerant" stance toward certain vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz
Svmuu News: U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent said Monday that the United States currently takes a “supportive” stance toward certain ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz. He also noted that any measures aimed at alleviating rising oil prices would depend on the duration of the war with Iran.“We are seeing more and more fuel tankers setting sail. Iranian vessels have already departed, and we are allowing this to happen in order to supply fuel to the rest of the world. We are now also seeing Indian vessels setting sail,” he said. “This trend should gradually increase before any naval or escort fleets appear in the Gulf region. So we believe the Iranian side will naturally make concessions. At present, we are satisfied with this.We hope global supplies will remain ample,” Besent said. When asked whether the government Donald Trump would use other means besides releasing oil reserves to alleviate rising oil prices and the impact of the war, Besent replied, “That will depend on the duration of the conflict.” (Jin Shi)
