Anthropic Applies to Establish AnthroPAC to Address Conflict with Trump Administration
Svmuu News Anthropic has filed documents with the FEC to establish AnthroPAC, a political action committee funded by employees. This move comes as the company is in a dispute with the Trump administration over the use of Claude for military purposes. Previously, Anthropic rejected a Pentagon request to remove safeguards preventing the system from being used for mass surveillance or autonomous lethal weapons. In March of this year, Anthropic sued the federal government for labeling it as a national security supply chain risk, and a court has recently ruled to temporarily suspend that designation. Currently, tech giants like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon have all established similar PACs. Additionally, in 2026, Anthropic donated $20 million to Public First Action, an organization supporting AI safety and security.
