Fed's Williams Downplays Wash Nomination Stalemate: Confirmation Timeline Uncertain
Svmuu News The confirmation timeline for Kevin Wash's nomination as Federal Reserve Chair is uncertain, due to opposition from key Republican senators against advancing his nomination while current Chair Powell is still under investigation. New York Fed President and Vice Chair of the Fed's policy committee, John Williams, stated that this uncertainty is not a problem for the Federal Reserve. The Federal Open Market Committee voted earlier this year for Powell to serve as Chair of the policy committee, and Powell can continue in this role until Wash is confirmed to succeed him. Williams said, "We are just focused on doing our jobs. There are no issues like continuity with the committee." (Jin10)
