When asked whether he would allow Iran to charge tolls for ships passing through this strategic waterway, Trump said that a joint venture approach is being considered to ensure the security of the strait. Trump also stated that he would not allow Iran to retain any uranium enrichment capabilities and said that US troops stationed in the region would not withdraw but would remain to enforce future agreements. Trump expressed that he expects peace negotiations to begin on Friday and proceed rapidly, while confirming that China played a key role in the negotiations with Iran.
Previously, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz would be possible through coordination with the Iranian armed forces and consideration of technical limitations.
