In response to recent statements by the Russian side that it will continue to expose the war crimes committed by Japanese militarism in 2026, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning said during a regular press conference on January 8 that China highly commends Russia’s just actions in upholding historical truth. Mao Ning noted that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the opening of the Tokyo Trials. The trials of Japanese war criminals by the International Military Tribunal for the Far East severely punished a group of ringleaders whose hands were stained with the blood of the people of the victim nations. They upheld international justice and defended human dignity, serving as a powerful warning against any unlawful attempts to revive militarism or engage in further aggression and expansion. “If Japan’s right-wing forces persist in going against the tide, all nations and peoples who uphold justice have the right to hold Japan accountable once again for its historical crimes.” (Xinhua News Agency)
