The U.S. House of Representatives has rejected an aviation safety bill passed by the Senate. The bill, sponsored by lawmakers from both parties, aims to enhance aircraft tracking technology and information sharing between the military and civil aviation authorities to improve aviation safety. The bill was prompted by last year’s mid-air collision in Washington, D.C., which claimed 67 lives and marked the deadliest civil aviation disaster in the United States in more than two decades. Although it passed the Senate unanimously last December, it faced opposition from the Department of Defense. Ultimately, the bill was rejected by the House of Representatives after failing to secure the required two-thirds majority.
